A picture is worth a thousand words ....
Yes, The picture in the auction is ours, and the item in that picture is the item you will receive!
Auction Links
When we first started doing ebay we didn't have a digital camera
and some auctions we didn't use a picture, some auctions we took pictures
with a 35mm and scanned them :(
That cost to much time and money ..... and we knew we
had to do something fast because we did figure out that others that had a
picture were getting more for their items $ and having a camera would pay
for itself in one group of auctions. We also figured out by the way we buy
on ebay that the better the picture the more the item sells for, and we were more likely
to bid higher in an auction when we could see the item better.
The first Camera we had is not worth talking about, it was a Kodak DC-215

But it did get us going, and we upgraded pretty quick .......
The second camera
The Fuji MX-2900 Zoom was better and we used that for
a few years, I liked it a lot, it was the Fuji MX-2900 Zoom, we were able
to get into doing professional photography for our other businesses Hosting
& Web-Design. Plus we were noticed for having good pictures in our auctions
and we even received email about it.

I can't say enough about
the quality and ease of use this camera has to offer, in my mind after playing
with many cameras and researching (because I wanted the best) it came down
to this one or the Nikon they were both in the same quality and price range
so I had to really dig deep, you see what I bought.
Every day I am still pleased with this camera and what it does for Me and my business!
I recommend the 512 Meg card and an extra battery, we
shoot on one setting down from "Best" and the card holds over 230 pictures
that's about what you will get out of the battery that comes with it, we
got the extra battery because we are on the road a lot .... it just comes
in handy.
Total cost with Camera, Case, Tri-pod, 512 Meg card, extra battery is about $1100

Photoshop or manipulate the picture.....
These newer cameras have very large pictures 1meg at
45" in size and not good for putting right into an auction or on a web page
so you are going to need to bring that back down to 8" or 10" wide for best
viewing and under 100k or so.....
I don't suggest using these programs to change the way
the item looks because if you make the picture look better than the item, people
won't come back.
See example of making the picture look better than item ( Photoshop-ed ) Just don't do it....
Picture Hosting Services
To use or not to use that is the question, there are pros and cons..... (we use our own servers)
Pros to using a service- You don't need web space somewhere
although if you are on the internet your ISP gives web space most of the
time. You don't need to learn how to upload FTP and find what URL they are
at. Most manipulate the picture as its uploaded to a nice little 4x4 72 dpi
picture.
Cons to using a service - through the upload script they
down- grade the quality and the size of your picture to save them self bandwidth
and hard drive space.
I recommend getting your own space from a hosting company
and learn how to manipulate your own photos (its not that hard) Get an FTP
program to upload to your space.
Plus, you can add as many photos as you like to the auction at no extra cost,
you can have the picture as large as you need to show off your item.
